The Various Types of Router Molding Bits
Among the common router bits, molding bits are probably the most exciting bits to use. Do you know that there are different subtypes of molding bits according to purpose and function? Here are some of them:
1. Horizontal Crown. These kinds of molding bits are carbide tipped containing 2 flutes. They are the classic bits for cove molding, which makes them very useful in casework and home woodworking projects. Horizontal crown molding bits are usually available in three different sizes – 1-3/4″, 2-1/2″, and 2-3/4″.
2. Ranch Profile Casing. This 2 flute molding bit is carbide tipped and accompanied by completely covered ball bearing guides. Whether your woodworking project is cabinet, picture frame, door casing, chair rails or baseboard, the ranch profile casing molding bits can be useful.
3. Multi-Molding Crown. These 2 flute, carbide tipped molding bits are used for decorations, crown making and chair moldings. They are used in 1/2 -inch table mounted router.
